Mica is one of the main ingredients in coloured cosmetics.

What is Mica?

Mica`s are non-toxic occurring naturally from the minerals muscovite and silicate. Mica, if smaller than 20 microns, gives a satiny appearance while large mica`s provide a sparkly effect. Mica`s are then coated with various natural oxides and titanium dioxide (from Canada) to give a full range of colours. .

Please note that around 60%* of the world’s mica is sourced in India. A huge part of this is considered to be mined in socially and economically challenged regions, with a high incidence of child labour, corruption in the supply chain, and poor working conditions.

As a result of the above information we have received enquiries from some customers who are quite rightly concerned about child labour practises relating to the mining of mica in India. We never have and nor do we now source or stock any products at all from India. You can rest assured that any product you may purchase in this store has not been the subject of child labour or animal testing.
